Community Play and Learn : This part time day program for children ages 3-4 providing early learning so that young children are prepared for Kindergarten, “Ready to learn, Ready for Life”. In 2017, the program served 28 children and their families.
Partnership Playgroup: Children ages 0-3 along with their caregiver participate in a free weekly “facilitator-lead” playgroup. In 2017, we enjoyed early learning through play with 20 children and their families.
Dolly Parton Imagination Library: Literacy and early learning are #1 for us! Every child from birth up to the age five is eligible to receive a free age appropriate book in the mail each month. In 2017, 277 out of 400 eligible Pamlico County children received a free book!
Childcare Quality Maintenance: Early learning, health and safety in a childcare setting is important for healthy development and Kindergarten readiness; we have a specialist to provide coaching, training, and consultation to childcare centers and homes in Pamlico County. We serve all 10 of the 4 and 5 Star Rated childcare homes and centers in 2017.
Strengthening Families Program (SFP): This evidence-based family support program is for all families; it has been shown to improve parenting skills, communication, improve school performance and enhanced family relations. In 2017, 12 families graduated from SFP.
Diaper Donation and Distribution: We aid families in need of disposable diapers or pull-ups once a month, diaper donations are always welcome. In 2017, we provided diaper and baby aid to 89 families.
Lending Library and Resource Center: Offering books, themed toys and activities, a resource room and connections to community resources.
Subsidized Child Care: We work through DSS to administer Smart Start funds to eligible families to cover the cost of childcare.
Summer Learn and Play: During the summer month’s children birth to 5 years of age, along with their caregiver, join the fun as we venture to interesting and unknown locations in and around the area. In 2017, we shared the summer with about 20 families.
